Gerston Chapel Mission Statement

  • To engage in and also to encourage the regular worship of Almighty God, with the Lord Jesus Christ at its centre in the preaching and teaching of the word of God, prayer, worship and fellowship.
  • To instruct the Body of Christ, of all ages in the inherent word of God, through preaching and teaching so as to encourage and equip believers in order that they may walk worthy of their calling in Christ.
  • To earnestly contend for the truth of God’s word, endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Walking in humility, self-sacrifice and the preferring of one another in love.
  • To provide a fellowship of believers where the love of the Lord Jesus Christ is and can be expressed, through personal ministry, discipleship, encouragement, discipline, service, forgiveness and in personal care.
  • To always keep our persecuted brethren in mind through prayer and also to express the love of God to them by endeavouring to meet their physical and financial needs, by supporting ministries which reach out to them in the love of Christ.
  • To proclaim the Gospel of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; and to lead those who repent of their sin and believe in Him for their Salvation into membership of the local church.
  • To baptise believers and to make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ from all nations.
  • To encourage train and nurture believers in the ministry of their Holy Spirit given gifts in their service of Christ.
  • To support the ministry of the wider fellowship of true Christian churches; meaning those who hold fast to the orthodox and the historic faith of the Lord Jesus Christ according to the Holy scriptures.
  • To support the work of Christian missions in proclaiming the gospel of Christ Jesus.
  • To express the love of God in practical ways especially to the poor, to widows and to orphans according to scripture.
